Skop Penyelidikan As a premier R&D institution in Malaysia, MARDI has been generating and transferring new technologies and innovation related to agriculture and agro-based industries. It is crucial that technology, which is recognizes as the main driver for economic growth in today's borderless world to be properly nurtured and managed. The technology management research in MARDI conduct R&D activities related to the identification of the technology need / gap within the agriculture and agro-based industries, ex-ante and ex-post evaluation of technologies generated by the institute including its impact, management of technological innovation and the assessment of technology delivery systems. Additionally, it also identifies, evaluates and proposed technology related public policy for the government.
The Focus R&D areas are:
- The interface of business, technology, engineering and science within the agriculture and agro-based industry.
- Demand for technology in the agricultural industry. This area covers both the primary production and downstream activities.
- Technology impact assessment of MARDI's Technology. The technology or innovation can be in the form of product, process and system. The contribution of the technology to productivity improvement as well as gathering of feedbacks regarding the strengths and weakness of the technology is the primary objective.
- Impact assessment on the existing technology delivery systems, aiming at improving the technology transfer and commercialization mechanism.
- Agricultural development and implication on natural resource use for sustainable development.
- Ex-ante assessment on new technologies focusing on the identification information gap, technology evaluation and commercial viability of the technologies.
